Books
- Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers, Mary Roach
- Nonfiction book about the ways that cadavers have been donated to science are used in the US. I think I have heard a decent number of these examples before, either from other books (Smoke Gets In Your Eyes) or podcasts (Criminal). But it was still interesting. Roach definitely uses humor to distance herself from the morbidity of the topic, so perhaps not for the faintest of heart.
- Water Moon, Samantha Sotto Yambao
- This was for bookclub. This book really jumped around from whimsical moment to whimsical moment to the point that it felt like many things were happening just so the author could write about a different whimsical mode of transportation. The insta-love didn't grab me...I think I would read another book by this author if she learned to pull back a little, because it was definitely creative.
- Heaven's Official Blessing #5, MXTX
- The journey continues as Hua Cheng and Xie Lian travel to the demon world to try to kill whoever the strongest demon is before he can become a new supreme. Some characters from the beginning of the book are returning and I am losing track of them. But also Hua Cheng tied a red string around their fingers so they're always linked......MARRIAGE....
- The Bluest Eye, Toni Morrison
- She said in her forward that this was the first book she wrote and wasn't quite happy with it looking back and I can understand. I didn't love it but my bookclub did have a pretty good discussion about it. It was quite depressing though...the intro tells us that this man will rape his young (~13 y/o) daughter and then we have to go through the whole book with that looming in the background.
- Plunder: Private Equity's Plan to Pillage America
- This book was challenging for me because private equity still just does not compute in my brain.....how does bankrupting companies earn money for you 😠but it's another enraging/informative book about politics, policy, and economics in the US...
- A Psalm for the Wild-Built, Becky Chambers
- I re-read this because I suggested solarpunk as a theme for my FTH bid. This feels in the same vein as all of Becky Chambers's other books but I like them because they still read differently. This audiobook is only 4 hours long and yet it took me so long to finish it omg I was majorly in a reading slump by the end of the month. I will read the second book but I will actually read it, not listen to the audiobook.

Watched
- I did watch Mickey 17 this month. Wasn't as amazing as Parasite but I did have fun.
- NCT 127
- Impulsively bought a ticket to this because I had nothing lined up for March. I knew I hadn't listened to the most recent album because of Taeil but I was shocked that I felt like I didn't know a ton of songs on the setlist. Going to this concert made me realize I am more of a Dream fan than 127 which was a wild realization for me, because prior to this I would've said I liked 127 more. (Wayv is my #1 NCT unit.) Beyond that, the concert was a good time for me as a Mark fan because it felt like Mark took over all of Taeyong's parts and was always the center. Doyoung also felt like he was carrying a lot of the vocals - I'm looking back at some texts I sent during the concert and lol "Jungwoo has always been a second shift wailer, but with taeil out he's been promoted to first shift and listening to him and Doyoung back to back, he's just not on Doyoung's level." My other thoughts were that Yuta has a very interesting mid register that they underutilize and clearly my Haechan concert bias was coming out because I also thought they used his voice improperly.
- Unsure of my word count for the month (updated my writing tracker and it was 3.7k) but I took a couple weeks off because I was busy...
- 5 stars, great in bed - Sangyeon/Jaehyun/Haknyeon, The Boyz (cowrite)
- Efficiency Apartment - Sangyeon/Jaehyun/Haknyeon, The Boyz (cowrite)
Recipes
- Roasted potato quinoa salad
- Idk why I haven't thought of adding little mini potatoes to these salads but this was good
- Twice baked Japanese sweet potatoes
- This was so weird....when it was hot from the oven every bite made me do a double take but when I ate it as leftovers for lunch the taste had settled down a bit. But at no point was it better than a twice baked potato with cheese and sour cream so...
- Red pepper zucchini farro salad
- I think this was fine but the zucchini started to feel pickle-y after a while...
- Roasted lentils and carrots with marinated onions
- None of this worked for me but the comments were so positive so I have no idea if I did something wrong or what...
