You've got your OTP, you have to throw a third into the mix (from the same fandom), creating an OT3. Who is the OTP, and in your opinion, why would they make a perfect third for them?
Milcob <3
After writing 18.5 fics with some combination of milcob in the main pairing and countless more fics with milcob in the background, this is clearly my boyz otp. Hyunjae flirts with Jacob so openly and loves it when Jacob flirts with him back. (They are very much a Jane/Bingley ship in my mind where Hyunjae is very open about his affection and Jacob is more quiet about it.) Jacob has said that Hyunjae helped bring him out of his shell when he came to Korea which just destroys me. He also continues to initiate by asking Jacob to eat with him etc etc I LOVE MILCOB. I do have some favorite milcob ot3s, but pop and I have a side quest to write a fic for every milcob ot3, so let's talk about it.
Sanghak!
I think Sanghak are my other non-milcob otp in tbz. My favorite Sangyeon ships are sanghak, sangmil, and 2yeon but sanghak are always hanging out together on their own time which really bumps them up my list, especially considering that I said Haknyeon can be hard to ship. They shared a room in their second dorm and are still currently living together in that dorm. They also share a room a lot when they go on tour (tho maybe they've upgraded to solo rooms now). They play soccer together and apparently if Haknyeon organizes a game, Sangyeon will show up like 90% of the time. I think their personalities match really well and idk I just think they are so sweet. Haknyeon coming to Japan to support Sangyeon's musical was soooooooo important to me personally knowing that none of the other members went and Sangyeon seemed so happy to see Haknyeon there like. I CRY. THEY'RE MARRIED.
For their perfect ot3, I have considered sanghaksun a few times which still intrigues me and I did write a sangjuhak because idk, me and ot3s lol. But my favorite ot3 with them is sangmilhak. I have already discussed sangmil and milhak elsewhere so I won't do it again but their dorm is sooooo important to me. They grill meat NAKED like oh my god. I feel like all 3 ships in the ot3 are so balanced and there are things to write about each of them. Again, with the exception of Changmin, they are 3/4 of the earliest trainees. Watch this space as well.

- Sangmilcob
- I love sangmil so much actually. I've never written them but they're one of my favorite tbz ships. Sangyeon is obviously class president and Jacob is VP in tbz, but I consider Hyunjae the unofficial third leader. (When Jacob was chosen as VP, he apparently thought Hyunjae would be chosen/asked why not Hyunjae which just makes me SLKFJSLDFJ.) He is the emotional pillar of tbz AND he's the one that Sangyeon says he goes to with his concerns. They are some of the oldest trainees and they live together, grilling in the NUDE....yeah I love sangmil.
- As a Sangyeon stan I ship everything with him but for me sangcob is lacking in ~spice which makes it hard for me to write a solo sangcob fic. Remember in the early days of the tag when sangcob were in the top ten because they're the 'parent' ship in the group? Clearly that has fallen off. I think there are some interesting aspects of their relationship but for the most part they're just a sweet pairing.
- In my head the ot3 hinges on Hyunjae in the middle bringing them together, but in our sangmilcob fic, Sangyeon is kind of the one in the middle. I wrote the sangcob parts so I found it a little challenging. I would def write them again....maybe something focused on the leadery aspect they all have.
- Bbangmilcob
- WHAT IF I CRIED. This is def one of my fav milcob ot3s. Pop and I have written 97z individually and also cowritten, but I linked the cowrite because I love it.
- Hyunjae is so shippable in every
milcobot3 but oh bbangmil are so good. They are really the friends to lovers trope to me and it's clear they are so comfortable with each other. They're from the same neighborhood! They went on dog dates! They tease each other so much....'you'll get tired of a cute man'/'hush my baby cat'. - This is another ot3 that I feel like hinges on Hyunjae because again, to me, bbangcob are just a sweet pairing. They don't have a ton for me to grab onto their individual ship. Though I will say, Younghoon is clearly such a social butterfly as seen by so many idols talking about him/doing tiktok challenges like every week, so in a non-canon setting, I do think Younghoon would be flirty enough to approach Jacob first.
- But mostly I love seeing this ot3 together and I love the 97z lives they give us. I do think this ot3 has angst potential (which I feel like we explored in the cowrite) but they are also just so cute....
- side note bbangmilcob ships are a great example of why I don't pay attention to naming conventions in terms of who tops because although I don't care when I read fics, if pressed I would say Hyunjae tops Younghoon and Jacob tops them both LOL.
- Jumilcob
- My other favorite milcob ot3.....Another ot3 that pop and I have each written a lot, though usually separately?? Our only cowrite was different than how we usually cowrite. Ok pop time to cowrite jumilcob again!! I linked pop's fic because I feel it has way more substance than the one we did together and gets into the meat of why I like them as an ot3. Juyeon is their emo little kitty. Idk something about that live they did together years ago where Juyeon reached out to them and stopped himself and Jacob grabbed his hand!!!!!! He is so in love with them and they are too wrapped up in each other to notice!!! If I were more into unrequited pining I probably would've written a lot for them, but the fun of making Juyeon sad and emo is letting him get kissed at the end <3
- Jumil.......ok jumil is a govt ship lol but I FORGIVE THEM Juyeon is Hyunjae's sillly little kitty....Hyunjae thinks he's sooooo cute. Tbz talk about their age lines a bit and how Juyeon is an early 98 so technically~ he could be same age friends with Hyunjae but I think he likes being Hyunjae's baby more. Cry.
- I think Jucob have given me a bit more to go on over the years - they both love basketball, I could easily come up with a Jacob helping Juyeon with English au, I think Juyeon said he wanted to be a pilot as a trainee and Jacob helped him fill out the app?? lmao. I appreciate all of the walking with Juyeon episodes because if I ever wanted to write a jucob fic, I could pull that up and find something.
- As an ot3 I feel like milcob just dote on Juyeon...they think he is so cute and sweet and he just wants to be loved by them. Idk I love jumilcob.....it was the second boyz fic I ever wrote.
- Milcobkev/milmoonbae
- HYUNJAE CALLED KEVIN HIS SUNFLOWER BECAUSE HE'S ALWAYS LOOKING AT HIM?????????? I will never be over that piece of info. They are work out bros, Hyunjae likes teasing Kevin... I think if I had to write a 'Kevin thinks he's straight' fic, Hyunjae would be an easy choice to rock his world lmao.
- For once I feel like both Kevin pairings are pretty equal/maybe I ship moonbae more? Moonbae are also a govt ship but I forgive it because clearly they really enjoy each other's company. Their backgrounds are so similar as Korean-Canadians and I think they really find that piece of home in each other. They both also are interested in making their own music....ok moonbae au where they're both indie singers and go on tour together in Canada....etc etc.
- In the previous 3 ot3s, I usually picture it as milcob getting together first or the Hyunjae pairing getting together first, but with milmoonbae I can see moonbae being the ones to get together first. Obviously Hyunjae will quickly butter his way between them but yeah moonbae has a strong presence in this ot3. This was one of the tags we created!
- Milcobkyu
- Milkyu...the first two trainees, who say they stick together like magnets....Pop could give you a much longer list of evidence than me but I believe their families are also friends. They did a cooking show together and Changmin failed so Hyunjae had to help him....DOMESTIC.
- Cobkyu....THAT'S JACOB'S LITTLE ONE!! Listen I don't have much evidence I can point to for them but I feel like I can picture so many moments during concerts where Changmin did something cute with Jacob because they stand near each other in line. Sometimes I feel like Jacob's 'little ones' really applies to Changmin so much....Changmin is so sweet and cute.
- Honestly I'm having trouble articulating why this ot3 is cute but writing our cowrite was a breeze so idk lol clearly I ship it. Side note I looked through my discord with pop for milkyu evidence and found "established milkyu seducing Jacob" and "what if Milkyu arranged marriage because their families are so close and then one of them falls in love with Younghoon" hey pop those are sick why are we sick ok let's write more ridiculous ot3s.
- Milcobnyu
- I think Milnyu are one of the pretty obvious pairings in tbz, like Hyunjae is constantly in Chanhee's face. He sniffed his sock like a fucking freak I still can't believe that's canon. Hyunjae loves to be near Chanhee but Chanhee is always tsundere about it.....Hyunjae brought coffee and suddenly Chanhee was sweet to him and Hyunjae was like okay I see how it is lmao. But also Chanhee has said that he liked photographing Hyunjae best in NewShot and Hyunjae's photos were also horny as hell so clearly Chanhee likes him too. In my mind Hyunjae is just whipped for Chanhee and will do anything for him lol.
- Ok take me saying 'THAT'S JACOB'S LITTLE ONE' for cobkyu and then multiply it by one million for cobnyu because that's how I feel. Oh my god they make me so FERAL!!!!! Jacob said Chanhee acts the most baby to him which is CRAZY because I feel like Chanhee does not act like that with the other hyungs - I have already discussed milnyu but I think Chanhee is just as likely to baby his bbanghoonie as the other way around, and I think Chanhee admires Sangyeon but I wouldn't go as far as saying he wants to be babied. He is always clinging to Jacob and saying 'Jacob-hyung!~~~~' in a really cute voice and PLAYING WITH HIS ELBOW SKIN DURING INTERVIEWS oh my god. I just feel like sometimes Chanhee comes across as more brusque in fics (and he certainly likes to tease and has some zingers) but it's just the complete opposite when he's with Jacob. He is the sweetest dongsaeng ever. And he likes Jacob's hugs the best because they're so warm yeah I love cobnyu SO MUCH. I wrote a fic for them almost 3 years ago and it's still on the first page of their tag please someone write cobnyu!!!!
- This is the other ot3 that in my opinion hinges more on Jacob in the middle (though not for lack of trying on Hyunjae's part) just because I can see cobnyu getting together so easily vs milnyu where Chanhee is resistant. We included this ot3 within our bbangnyumilcob fic but to my great sadness, we have not written this ot3 yet. BUT WATCH THIS SPACE.......ever since I wrote my cobnyu fic I have been thinking about writing the milcobnyu sequel and knowing it's one of the last 2 ot3s we need to check off...............watch this space.
- I just realized I didn't put Chanhee and Changmin in age order but whatever.
- Milhakcob
- Milhak were the second and third trainees to join, original roommates, and still living in the dorm together. I think Hyunjae has said Haknyeon is one of the people that knows him best. Haknyeon can be hard to ship with people, but Hyunjae is one of his easier ones.
- Speaking of hard to ship....hakcob is the least written tbz ship so clearly this is a common feeling in fandom. I think it's because Jacob has said he is reserved and needs other members to pull him out to do stuff, and Haknyeon seems to be fairly self sufficient/not as likely to ask someone to hang out. However I do think it's a funny bit of fanlore that older men always hit on Haknyeon when they go on tour, vs pop and I joking that Jacob is the most desirable man in the world (literally all of tbz love him) so I do think a fic where they both like each other and both expect the other to approach them and are confused when nothing happens would be funny.
- This is the other ot3 that neither of us have written....I think it's gonna have to be a cowrite lol. I think at one point we discussed milhak seducing Jacob which would be interesting!! Idk if we've done that angle for any milcob ot3 yet.
- Milcobsun
- Milsun are soccer buddies and used to be gamer buddies (their reports keep changing re: who still games lol). Every time I get to a Hyunjae ship that I'm not as well versed on I'm always like just ask pop lol but they had a few months where they kept getting paired for content like the baby stuff and another photoshoot.
- Suncob makes me feral too....though less feral than cobnyu (if I didn't already have a lot of stuff I wanted to write I would absolutely be thinking about cobsunnyu ot3 too). Something about the live where Jacob played guitar and Sunwoo looked at him with those huge boba eyes my god.... They are/were also gamer line, but I think the difference between milsun and cobsun is that milsun feels like they're on equal footing since Hyunjae acts young/tbz have said Sunwoo is high in maturity, vs suncob where it feels like Sunwoo just wants Jacob to baby him. I just reminded myself of the suncob date in 2023 and now I'm feral again WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE ATMOSPHERE BETWEEN YOU WAS HEART POUNDING......they were on a date for like 6 hours I'm crying.
- It's hard to talk about their ot3 without talking about the fic we wrote lol but I think this ot3 lends itself to Sunwoo yearning!! Milcob are sick and he's a romance boy so I can just see him sitting on the sidelines wishing they would notice him. He has also written so many little imagines and I feel like he wrote milcob being sick in his imagines so he gets it.
- Milcobric
- Milric are same age friends (spiritual) and always playing together like 2 puppies they are so cute. Eric is Hyunjae's baby <3333 recent example but they went on so many dates in Paris and hung out for Hyunjae's birthday and Hyunjae jokingly said it's my birthday buy me this hat so Eric bought him a 1k USD couple's hat.......that is sick......
- Cobric...English line. There is a really tender quote between SVT Joshua and Vernon where Josh basically says "thank you for making sure I don't forget my English" and I feel like that applies to cobric (honestly all of English line). They live together and are apparently constantly at war between clean (Kevin, Eric) and messy (Jacob lol) which I think is cute.
- I created this ot3 tag and I am still the only fic in their tag so I guess I am the world's foremost expert on milcobric??? Someone please join me lol. I wrote the fic as established milcob and Eric joining which I think was easy but I think future fics that focused on the cobric part of the ot3 would be nice......please join me....

Ok sanghaksun. So this originally came to me when I wrote my sangsun fic, because I had a line saying that sunhak had previously broken up and Sangyeon was wondering if he needed to mediate again. In the sangsun fic I obviously had them get together, but if I had to write the ot3 I think I would have sanghak get together after sunhak break up. And then Sangyeon gets to reconcile his boyfriend and his boyfriend's ex (and falls for Sunwoo along the way). Or exes sunhak both fall for Sangyeon and have to reconcile themselves in other to both date him. I really enjoy the break-up/make-up trope and sunhak feels so perfect for it lol (I say as I literally have a wip lol)

the project to write every milcob ot3 is incredible we have so many ridiculous side quests...she has written every Hyunjae ship, I am working on every Sangyeon ship more slowly, we want to write every jumilcobric and bbangnyumilcob iteration (including ot3s) and we have a grid ticking off every ship we've written.....tbz give us so much material

and re: milcobric YESSS I was thinking of those pics!!! thank you!! all I remembered was that we only learned later that eric was there too, and that jacob drove them around (? BLESS YOU FOR THE SANG(HAK)SUN LINKS!! little moments feed the worms in my brains, I live for those. I had completely forgotten about/not paid enough attention to that dicon interview video, sangyeon is so amused with sunhak LMAO I'd be curious to read the things you mentioned, especially sunhak exes falling for sangyeon because for one, yeah, sunhak really are THE ship for the break-up/make-up trope, but also because I can't tell if that would be funny or angsty. (or both?!)
as for sangsun specifically - awww sunwoo comforting sangyeon :( that really was cute. but omg I had forgotten about sangsun land and that SANGYEON HIMSELF called it that jhdfbsgjdfhbf ok sangyeon, I understand, I hear that loud and clear. I think I just never noticed them interacting much before (and therefore couldn't picture the ship), but that seems to have changed in recent years...? sunwoo just straight up BACKHUGGING HIM so tight and with a big smile?! OK, SUNWOO, I UNDERSTAND. they seem very gentle/soft with each other, which is so sweet :')
